Our Projects 2022 - 2023

Partnerships & Collaborations Across Simcoe County and Beyond

EMANCIPATION DAY DEDICATION 2022

in Partnership with Kempenfest

To celebrate Carnival is to celebrate the resistance and fight for freedom in the Caribbean, it is to celebrate an identity that had endured after endless attempts to erase it, and it is to celebrate Caribbean persistence.  After an initial display of Carnival culture at the 1967 Expo in Montreal, Canadians fell in love!  Caribana as we know it here in Canada was created and now it’s here to stay.

We welcomed special guest performers Carnival Spice, a premier dance & fitness entertainment group to provide a Caribbean inspired showcase of music, dance movement and costume beauty.  They also educated attendees on Caribbean Carnival culture and the history of Mas.
